Mistaken identities, outrageous manners, and laughter that never gets old.
“The Importance of Being Earnest” is a witty and satirical play by Oscar Wilde that explores themes of identity, love, and social conventions. Set in Victorian times, it follows the lives of two friends, Jack and Algernon, who create alter egos to escape their responsibilities and pursue romantic interests. As their deceptions unravel, hilarity ensues, leading to a series of misunderstandings and unexpected revelations.
Lismore Theatre Company will show you a very new and delightful performance that promises to entertain and hold a modern mirror up to today’s hypocrisy and social expectations. The charm and brilliance of Wilde’s classic comedy as it comes to life on stage, invites its audience to question the very nature of truth and sincerity in a world full of pretence. It will provide an evening of laughter and reflection in the beautiful, flood-damaged and traumatised setting of Lismore!
