This is a contemporary Australian comedy,written by Elizabeth Coleman, and directed by Jennie Hicks, One of Jennie`s recent productions was A Pint of Pinter(nominated for Gold CoastTheatre AWards )with the Mullumbimby Drill Hall Theatre in April 2009 and in 2008, she directed Noel Coward`s Fallen Angels with the Lismore Theatre Co
Theatregoers may remember another of Coleman`s plays - Secret Bridesmaid`s Business a very popular and hilarious production at the Rochdale a few years ago. Coleman has written scripts for well known TV series, such as the hugely acclaimed Seachange,Police Rescue,Heartbreak High,Something in the Air,The Secret Life of Us,All Saints,Blue Heelers and Mcleods Daughters .Currently she has produced and written Bed of Roses,currently showing on ABC television.
In brief the plot : Ron Patterson has calculated that he only has 111 minutes left of life. Never an attentive father, he invites the family over for saladas and cheese and a bit of Quality Time. Meantime,the family have their own personal skeletons in the cupboard, which come out during the play,causing havoc and hilarity. The humour is dark, with elements of suspense and heartfelt emotion, but overall this is a laugh out loud quintessential Aussie comedy.
